Ravens beat the odds and win Super Bowl 47

So were you one of the 108 plus million people that took in Super Bowl 47 between the Baltimore Ravens and the San Francisco 49er’s. That’s a lot of viewers for an event in the sports news and sports on the web but it did fall slightly short of last years game which was the most watched event in US history, coming in at 111.3 million viewers. It was entertaining to say the least and Beyonce steamed things up with her half time show. The rest of Destiny’s Child joined her on stage for a few numbers as well.

The Ravens had the running game going in the 1st half

The Ravens run the ball on the 49er’s

The game was almost like two completely different games in one. The first half was owned by Baltimore, building up a 17-6 half time lead. The 49er’s looked dazed and confused out there and their much heralded defense was being cut up like a knife through butter.

John Harbaugh on the sidelines during Super Bowl 47

John Harbaugh, Jim did you throw the breaker

The 2nd half didn’t start off any better for the 49er’s. The Ravens ran back the kickoff 108 yards for the major to push their lead to 24-6. The run tied the record for the longest kick off return in NFL history and the 49er’s looked deflated. Then the lights went out. I was kidding with people at the Super Bowl party that Jim Harbaugh quietly left the sidelines and flipped the breaker to plunge half of the dome into darkness. Another  rumor which was just as funny had Jerry Rice being arrested because he flipped the switch to try and allow the 49er’s to regroup.  The 30 minute delay to warm the lights back up seemed to be just the tonic for San Francisco as they got a chance to regroup during the delay and came out strong to out score the Ravens 17-7 for the rest of the quarter and the game was finally looking like the battle that Allsports predicted it would be.

The 49er's got back into the game in the 3rd quarter

The 49er’s got back into the game in the 3rd quarter

The 4th quarter saw the 49er’s out score the Ravens 8-6 but the first half blunders were too much to overcome and the clock ran out on the 49er’s championship aspirations. Allsports was close in predicting a close Ravens win. My score of 24-20 was slightly lower than the 34-31 final but the Ravens did beat the odds to send Ray Lewis into retirement a champion.
