Allsports Commentary: Bettmans win is an NHL loss
So I was just doing a bit of surfing for sports news and sports on the web when I came across this article in the Toronto Sun. The top piece is what caught allsports eye because it gives a similar opinion about the Phoenix Fiasco to that which I feel.
As you may have read from some of my previous posts, the latest being, Allsports Commentary: A Ruling in the Phoenix Fiasco?, written just a few days ago on October the 2nd, talks about the value of the other franchises in trouble in the wake of Judge Baum’s ruling.
The article which is written by well known sports scribe, Gary Loewen talks about Gary Bettman’s small personal victory in keeping the Coyotes in Phoenix and keeping his dream alive about ramming hockey down the people’s throats in the US Sun Belt. I particularly like his last comment, and I quote “In other words, with Bettman in charge, the NHL continues to be a non-prophet organization”
This is exactly what allsports was saying about the ruling as it reduces the value of the franchise when the commissioner can dictate where that franchise should be. The NHL has played along with Mr. Bettmans misguided dream long enough. I am sure the owners are really thrilled that they will be coughing up more cash this year to float the loosing proposition in Phoenix.
Mr. Bettman said they would be looking for a new owner in the mean time. Does anyone know of any billionaires out there that want to become millionaires? If Bettman gets his way they will be looking for a few of them as Phoenix is not the only franchise in financial trouble.
