Windsor Spitfires Make Memorial Cup History
The Windsor Spitfires made history last weekend in Rimouski where the Memorial Cup was being held. The Spitfires became the first team in history to win the cup after loosing their first two games.
The cup was donated in 1919 by the Ontario Hockey Association in honour of the soldiers who died fighting for Canada in World War I.
After loosing 3-2 in overtime to QMJHL champion Drummondville and 5-4 to host Rimouski. The Spitfires reeled off a 2-1 victory over Kelowna, beat Rimouski 6-4 in the tie breaker. Took out Drummondville in the semi-final. Then came all the way back with a 4-1 win over Kelowna again in the final.
